Discover how can you get the best out of your laundry.

Most homeowners would agree the laundry is not the most exciting room in their house. Let’s face it … Doing the laundry is a chore

But your laundry doesn’t need to add to the drab mood you may feel when you have laundry to do. In fact 2019 is seeing more clients making selections for their laundry to complement their bathrooms and the style of their home.

The first step to designing your laundry is to make a list of everything you need in your laundry. In most cases, the laundry will need:

  • A washing machine
  • A sink or laundry trough
  • A dryer (if needed)
  • Easy access to a clothes line
  • Bench space
  • Storage space
  • You will also need plumbing and electrical outlets.

One of our first questions when designing a laundry is where to put the washing machine? Would a front loading washer work better in your available space than a top loader?

Front loading washing machines are generally more water-efficient than top loaders and give you more bench space. If bending down is a problem for you, a top loader might be a better choice and you may want to try to find space on the wall for your dryer.

Renovating an existing Laundry space may come with some limitations. Size and available light. If the room is small and dark and you can't install windows, choose light colours and make sure you have plenty of overhead lighting in the laundry and you may even consider installing a sky light.

White and off-white are usually the first colours that come to mind, but you don't have to limit your colour selection. colour can be used for the tiled splash back and with our large range of subway tiles and mosaics are proving very popular choices with our clients.

Most of the items we use in our laundry are not items we want on display, which I why overhead cupboards and concealed laundry hampers aswell as broom cupboards are common in laundry designs.  But incorporating an open shelf or a stone bench top with a stylish laundry trough and tap selection can allow you to add some signature styling and create a beautiful space that will tie in nicely with the style of the rest of your home.

Our Laundry Designs can consider how best to use your existing laundry space so it is functional, practical and will provide adequate storage.

Once the design has been finalised, our professional team will take you through our designer showroom and help you make your selections for cabinets, bench-top, tiles, tap-ware, towel rails and any additional accessories that will complete the design. Including things like hanging bars and pull out wire laundry hampers and fold out ironing boards.
